Data Engineering Intern

Location: Canada; hybrid work model with three days per week of in-person presence, including office or market-facing engagements. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Salary: CAD 45,000–60,000 per year.

What you will do

• Assist with developing and maintaining data pipelines using Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
• Support data ingestion from enterprise applications, APIs, files, and cloud-based sources.
• Develop Python and SQL scripts for data transformation, validation, and automation.
• Build, maintain, and optimize datasets across bronze, silver, and gold Lakehouse layers.
• Perform data quality validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analytics teams, data scientists, AI engineers, and business stakeholders while contributing to documentation and runbooks.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Python fundamentals, basic SQL, relational databases, data structures, and ETL/ELT concepts.
• Exposure to cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence concepts.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and availability for three days per week of in-person work are required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with Pandas, PySpark, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, or Lakehouse concepts.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or PowerPoint.
• Interest in cloud data platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
