Substation Engineer

Salary: USD $100,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead proposals, scope development, conceptual designs, execution plans, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Deliver physical substation designs, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, auxiliary AC/DC systems, and bills of material.
• Prepare engineering calculations, studies, reports, equipment specifications, and factory acceptance testing documentation.
• Coordinate design activities with civil and structural, network, transmission line, and other departments.
• Review engineering and design work, improve processes and tools, and provide technical leadership, training, and mentoring.
• Meet with clients, support business development, and provide short-term field support during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 5 years of related experience; a relevant master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems by adapting and modifying standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.
