Electrical Engineer II (Substation)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States

Salary: USD $85,000–$100,000 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Oversee substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the United States.
• Develop conceptual designs, execution plans, engineering cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Create physical substation designs, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, auxiliary AC/DC systems, and bills of material.
• Develop protection and control designs, including panel arrangements, one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and equipment wiring.
• Prepare grounding, lighting protection, and AC/DC load study calculations, reports, and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate design activities with civil/structural, network, and transmission line departments and provide short-term field support during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• At least two years of related experience; a related master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt standard engineering approaches to solve complex problems.

Nice to have

• EIT certification.
• Experience with relay settings, 3D modeling/design, or participation in professional technical committees.
