Substation Engineer I

What you will do

• Develop conceptual designs, execution plans, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Design physical substation systems, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
• Prepare protection and control designs, including one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
• Perform grounding, lighting protection, and AC/DC load study calculations and prepare technical reports.
• Develop equipment specifications for procurement and factory acceptance testing.
• Coordinate design activities with civil, structural, network, transmission line, client, and construction stakeholders, including short-term field support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• EIT certification is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to adapt standard engineering approaches to difficult problems.
