Process Control Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Deepwater, New Jersey, United States; onsite at the Chambers Works manufacturing site

Salary: $97,843–$152,880 annually, plus an 11% annual bonus target.

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight, troubleshooting, and support for electrical, instrumentation, control, DCS, and PLC systems.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, yield, uptime, capacity, reliability, and cost performance.
• Lead and participate in Process Safety Management activities, including PHA reviews, PSSR, Mechanical Integrity, and technical safety reviews.
• Create and revise procedures, Management of Change documentation, and other technical records.
• Support small and large capital projects from front-end loading and safety reviews through commissioning and startup.
• Act as the alarm and interlock guardian while collaborating with R&D, Technical Service, Engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a related technical field with 8+ years of experience in Process Controls and Safety Interlock Systems; alternatively, an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and methodologies.
• Working knowledge of core PSM elements, including PHA, Process Technology, MOC, and Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance.
• Experience with Honeywell DCS is preferred within the required experience.
• Immigration sponsorship, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, TN, or other non-immigrant status sponsorship, is not available.
• Employment is based at the Deepwater, New Jersey site.

Nice to have

• Process Controls experience in a chemical manufacturing environment and experience developing detailed basic data for process improvements and capital projects.
• Experience with process modeling, process historians, alarm management, batch automation, and sequencing.
• Basic electrical and instrument design, maintenance, and installation experience, including motors, motor starters, variable frequency drives, soft starters, and instrumentation.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Familiarity with LOPA, Probability of Failure on Demand, alarm management, and alarm rationalization.
