Advanced Process Control Engineer (APC)

Location: Alvin, Texas, at the Chocolate Bayou manufacturing site

Salary: $142,860–$178,570 annually, commensurate with experience

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA produces olefins and polyolefins, including butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, across major manufacturing facilities in North America.

What you will do

• Provide process control expertise and support for olefins and polypropylene production units.
• Troubleshoot and continuously improve APC applications using DMC by AspenTech and Process Perfecter by Pavilion/Rockwell.
• Develop and implement new advanced process control applications and evaluate new control technologies.
• Perform control loop tuning, plant step tests, model identification, DMC tuning, and KPI reporting.
• Coordinate with Operations and the Operational Technology group on process needs, server maintenance, backups, and security patches.
• Support alarm management, operator training, technical documentation, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in chemical, refining, industrial manufacturing, or capital projects.
• Experience with DCS functions and applications, process control methods, and advanced process control techniques.
• Experience with DMC, AspenTech, Process Perfecter, or Pavilion is preferred; Honeywell DCS training and experience are also preferred.
• Knowledge of chemical operations, maintenance operations, safety and quality management systems, data handling, computers, and programming.
• Ability to work across disciplines and organizational levels, including extended hours, nights, or weekends when unexpected process problems require support.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• Six Sigma training and experience.
• Professional certification such as Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Experience with cost-saving initiatives and equipment life-cycle cost management.
