Electrical Engineer II (Substation)

Location: Lakewood, Colorado, United States; short-term field support may be required during construction.

Salary: USD $85,000–$100,006.40 per year, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop conceptual designs, execution plans, project cost estimates, and schedules.
• Create physical substation design deliverables, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, auxiliary AC/DC systems, and bills of material.
• Prepare protection and control designs, including one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
• Perform grounding, lighting protection, and AC/DC load calculations for studies and reports.
• Develop equipment specifications for procurement and factory acceptance testing.
• Coordinate design activities with civil, structural, network, and transmission line departments and provide short-term field support during construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience; a related master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems by adapting and modifying standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Nice to have

• EIT certification.
• Experience with relay settings, 3D modeling/design, or professional technical committees.
