Laboratory Technician I - Sample Receiving

Location: Richmond, Virginia, USA; onsite laboratory role

Salary: $18.00–$20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Receive environmental samples according to standard operating procedures.
• Enter sample and test information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Label, store, archive, and dispose of samples while escalating short holding times and rush requests.
• Assist with sample bottle preparation, sample pickup, and field sampling activities as needed.
• Help coordinate daily field sampling and pickup schedules when required.
• Participate in efficiency improvement teams and follow quality assurance and health and safety requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an associate degree or relevant academic or vocational qualifications is preferred.
• Laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with computers and database software.
• Knowledge of general laboratory practices and laboratory safety.
• Ability to multitask, communicate effectively, work independently, and make sound decisions.
• Strong organization and attention to detail; must pass drug screening.

• Full-time schedule from Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime.
• Work in an office laboratory environment with multidisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients.
• Physical work includes sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds several times per day, and overhead lifting of more than 20 pounds.
