Laboratory Technician

Location: Lenexa, Kansas, USA. Full-time onsite laboratory role, Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.; additional hours may be required. Candidates within commuting distance of Norwood, Massachusetts are encouraged to apply.

What you will do

• Examine, label, prepare, pipette, retrieve, and store specimens according to established requirements.
• Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with SOPs.
• Prepare reagents and materials and maintain adequate testing supplies.
• Enter testing data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Document troubleshooting, remedial actions, quality assurance activities, and instrument maintenance.
• Follow laboratory safety, quality, regulatory, and processing requirements while coordinating daily activities with laboratory associates.

Requirements

• BS or BA in biological, physical, or chemical science, or a related science degree with 16 hours each in biology and chemistry and 3 hours in mathematics.
• Ability to work with automated and manual platforms and perform aseptic techniques.
• Intermediate proficiency with PC software and database skills; ability to interpret and follow SOPs, operating instructions, and company policies.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, communication, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours and meet the physical requirements of laboratory work, including standing for four or more hours and lifting up to 15 pounds.
• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Nice to have

• At least one year of data entry experience.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience or formal training handling potentially infectious human blood and bodily fluids.
