Laboratory Technician I (Entry-Level) (Environmental Testing)

Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA; onsite, within a commutable distance. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–10:00 pm.

Pay: $18–$20/hour, plus a 5% second-shift differential.

What you will do

• Retrieve samples from Sample Control and prepare them for analysis.
• Perform aliquoting, spiking and tracing, reagent preparation, concentration preparation, separation, sonication, and liquid rack setup.
• Learn and use the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
• Resolve sample-labeling discrepancies and record analysis results in laboratory paperwork, bench sheets, and logbooks.
• Wash glassware, stock supplies, maintain equipment and storage areas, and clean workspaces.
• Support other laboratory areas as needed while meeting production deadlines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of chemistry or science and basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production setting, multitask, solve problems, and work independently within time constraints.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including coolers packed with ice.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• High school chemistry coursework.
• Basic laboratory experience.
• Previous production-oriented work experience.
