Life Underwriting Risk Management Consultant

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $125,000–$135,000 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus of 15%.

What you will do

• Perform forensic reviews of underwriting work and provide guidance to team members.
• Coordinate data collection and lead participation in external, market conduct, reinsurance, and MIB audits.
• Advise the Claims department and provide recommendations on contestable claims.
• Analyze and report mortality and morbidity experience for specified insurance markets.
• Lead team meetings, special projects, training, and assigned management proxy responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent experience.
• Ten years of underwriting experience with mortality- and morbidity-based products.
• Four years of directly related auditing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting practices, industry standards, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication, attention-to-detail, and analytical skills.

Nice to have

• FLMI or FALU certification.
• Contestable claims, post-issue underwriting, or project management experience.
