Underwriting Large Case Specialist (Life Underwriting)

Location: Remote - United States. Less than 10% travel required.

Salary: $110,350.00–$181,285.00 base pay, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Adjudicate the most complex and high-value individual life underwriting cases, appeals, references, and reinsurance submissions.
• Provide expert judgment on escalated cases and troubleshoot complex underwriting issues for staff and management.
• Review financial statements, tax returns, treaty language, retention limits, and automatic and facultative reinsurance requirements.
• Partner with distribution leaders, agencies, field partners, home office personnel, and reinsurance underwriters.
• Champion the adoption of modern underwriting tools and platforms, including emerging technologies.
• Mentor and guide underwriters in advanced financial underwriting and share industry insights.

Requirements

• 15–20 years of experience in individual life underwriting.
• Proven experience handling large and complex cases for high-net-worth applicants.
• Industry-related education or credentials such as FALU or FLMI.
• Deep expertise in complex and high-dollar cases, financial underwriting, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working within reinsurance frameworks and collaborating with reinsurance partners.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records, GenAI, wearable technology, and behavioral economics.
• Experience developing innovative approaches by adapting underwriting precedent.
