Test Engineer II (Fluidics and Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Plan, set up, and execute fluidic and electrochemistry experiments, from test-plan definition through data analysis.
• Program, configure, and debug fluidic instrumentation and automated test setups.
• Assemble and perform metrology on prototype consumables and fluidic sub-assemblies.
• Characterize flow profile, pressure, leakage, and material interactions while identifying trends and failure modes.
• Maintain and improve test setups and fixtures for reliability, repeatability, and throughput.
• Support root cause analysis, design of experiments, test-method development, documentation, and manufacturing transfer with design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in an R&D laboratory or equivalent.
• Experience assembling, operating, and troubleshooting fluidic-based systems.
• Experience designing and executing experiments, including DOEs and root cause analysis.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience; equivalent education and directly applicable industry experience may be considered.
• Ability to analyze data, present technical results clearly, and work independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
• Ability to work on-site in San Diego, California.

Nice to have

• Programming experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, C++, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience with metrology, prototype consumables, or design-to-manufacturing transfer.
• Familiarity with microfluidics, analytical instrumentation, or DNA-based platforms such as sequencing, PCR, or molecular diagnostics.
