Systems Integration Engineer 1 (Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite full-time

Base salary: $68,400–$102,600 per year, plus eligibility for variable cash programs, equity for eligible roles, and benefits.

What you will do

• Integrate, test, and troubleshoot DNA sequencing systems and assay platforms, with emphasis on chemical and biochemical workflows.
• Investigate system-level issues across biochemical assays, hardware, software, and applications by analyzing data and testing hypotheses.
• Execute design verification plans, collect and review experimental data, and contribute to verification reports.
• Track development issues and maintain documentation covering procedures, protocols, results, deviations, and observations.
• Collaborate with research, product development, manufacturing, engineering, and scientific teams to drive problems to root cause.
• Present technical findings, risks, and recommendations to engineering and scientific stakeholders.

Requirements

• Hands-on wet-laboratory experience with biochemical assays, instrumentation, or complex experimental workflows.
• Foundational knowledge of or strong interest in sequencing systems, assay platforms, and wet-laboratory techniques.
• Scientific knowledge spanning areas such as molecular biology, chemistry, software, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Ability to analyze large datasets, draw conclusions, think critically, and troubleshoot complex systems.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or science, such as bioengineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or biology.
• Typically 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic research.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI tools, scientific programming, or scripting such as Python for data analysis.
• Strong curiosity and demonstrated ability to investigate experimental methods and results in depth.
