Equipment Engineer I

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite manufacturing-floor role

Salary: $68,400–$102,600 base salary per year, plus eligible variable cash programs and equity.

What you will do

• Support manufacturing operations through equipment troubleshooting, sustainment, technical problem solving, and engineering improvements.
• Optimize preventive maintenance, calibration, qualification, equipment upgrades, and reliability activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, automation, and process-related issues using structured problem-solving methods.
• Support automated manufacturing systems involving robotics, machine vision, motion control, PLCs, sensors, and related technologies.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Quality, Validation, R&D, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams on investigations, improvements, and safety activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, with 0–2 years of experience; equivalent technical education and hands-on experience may be considered.
• Mechanical and electrical/electronics aptitude demonstrated through projects, internships, laboratory work, or relevant industry experience.
• Basic knowledge of automated manufacturing systems, industrial automation, equipment controls, robotics, machine vision, and motion control.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with multimeters, calipers, gauges, electrical control panels, instrumentation, industrial interfaces, and sensors.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Flexibility to support fixed five-consecutive-day manufacturing schedules outside Monday–Friday, such as Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday.
• Exposure to semiconductor or highly automated manufacturing equipment and industrial automation technologies.
• Exposure to Python, JMP or Minitab, manufacturing databases, MMS/CMMS, equipment tracking tools, CAD, simulation, or analytical software.
