Outside Operator (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Bay Street, Texas City, TX, United States; onsite work in a 24-hour, 365-day plant environment

Salary: $32.90–$47.00 per hour, based on directly relevant experience.

What you will do

• Monitor and operate plant process equipment across PZ, Acetic Acid, Utilities, and Support Areas.
• Take readings, use plant data and control systems, evaluate operating conditions, and troubleshoot process or equipment issues.
• Perform minor maintenance and place systems in a safe condition through the Safe Work Permit process.
• Handle equipment startup, shutdown, isolation, and decontamination activities.
• Communicate operating conditions during shift turnover and collaborate with maintenance and other functions.
• Support process safety improvements, incident investigations, training, emergency response, and product-quality initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• At least 18 years of age and a high school diploma or GED.
• For external candidates: 3+ years of manufacturing operator experience or 4+ years of active technical military experience; internal qualification paths also apply.
• Must possess or obtain a TWIC card before the first day of employment and hold a valid U.S. motor vehicle license.
• Knowledge of chemicals, pumps, transfer systems, piping diagrams, instruments, gauges, process troubleshooting, and basic Microsoft Office tools.
• Must be able to work outdoors year-round, work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, climb and work at heights, enter confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and participate in respiratory fit testing.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and RCRA requirements.
• Experience with PLC/DCS systems, maintenance activities, safe work practices, and emergency response.
