What you will do

  • Design, simulate, implement, test, maintain, and document reliable DCS, PLC, emergency shutdown, data historian, and alarm management systems.
  • Develop preventive maintenance, inspection, backup, cybersecurity, and safety interlock testing plans for automation systems.
  • Analyze process and system data to identify failures, upsets, quality issues, and opportunities to improve safety, stability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Develop control strategies, loop tuning, process variable calculations, alarm configurations, interlocks, advanced control algorithms, and control sequences.
  • Coordinate automation maintenance, testing, projects, turnaround activities, contractors, consultants, and cross-functional support without interrupting operations.
  • Provide technical support, training, reporting, audit preparation, and management-of-change support for plant personnel and engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 5 years of industrial experience, or an associate technical degree and at least 10 years of industrial electrical, instrumentation, and process controls experience.
  • Expertise in control theory, including PID, advanced control strategies, model predictive control, adaptive control, and statistical process control.
  • Experience with instrumentation, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, safety instrumented systems, alarm management, data historians, and industrial communications.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Emerson RS3, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Honeywell FSC, HIMA, Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens controllers, OSI PI, Modbus, and Profibus systems.
  • Knowledge of chemical process simulation, industrial networks, automation programming and scripting, smart instrumentation, databases, SAP, SQL, P&IDs, loop sheets, and single-line diagrams.
  • Ability to work in field and office environments, including climbing ladders, working at elevated heights and on energized systems, and supporting after-hours call-ins when required.
