Instrument/Electrical Engineer (Petrochemical)

Location: Carson, California, United States; onsite at the manufacturing site

Salary: $120,644–$165,000 per year, commensurate with experience

What you will do

• Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering support for safe, reliable operation of plant instrumentation and power systems.
• Lead troubleshooting with I&E technicians and support operations, maintenance, and capital project teams.
• Manage power distribution systems below 69 kV, switching equipment, MCCs, VFDs, motors, UPS systems, grounding, transformers, and substations.
• Design and specify instrumentation, field analyzers, control valves, programmable logic controllers, safety systems, and control and interlock systems.
• Review engineering design packages, manage smaller I&E projects, and oversee larger projects delivered by engineering and construction firms.
• Maintain equipment care plans, critical equipment lists, PM data, technical documentation, KPIs, and root-cause failure analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in instrumentation or I&E engineering.
• Strong plant-level knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, instrumentation loop drawings, logic controllers, and ANSI, NFPA, ISA, IEC, API, and NEC standards.
• Experience with PLCs, programmable electronic safety systems, application programming, control systems, instrumentation, and control-system reliability.
• Formal NFPA 70E training and experience executing capital and expense projects.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, contractors, operations, maintenance teams, and Southern California Edison.

Nice to have

• Petrochemical or manufacturing plant experience.
• Training in Safety Instrumented Systems and knowledge of IEC 61511, ANSI/ISA 84.00.01, API RP 14C, API 556, and NFPA 85.
• Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer status or certification.
• Knowledge of polypropylene manufacturing and process control.
