Senior Engineer I, Instrument & Control, Projects

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; willingness and ability to relocate to Houston required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Temporary visa holders and candidates requiring current or future sponsorship are not eligible.

Base salary: $140,400–$171,600 per year.

What you will do

• Provide instrumentation and controls engineering support from project development and detailed design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Oversee EPC contractors and review project scope, design bases, execution strategies, and control systems requirements.
• Review DCS, PLC, SIS, control network architectures, control narratives, cause-and-effect documentation, logic, and engineering deliverables.
• Support the specification and selection of field instruments, control valves, PLCs, DCS platforms, and safety systems.
• Coordinate with engineering, project management, procurement, vendors, fabricators, constructors, and site stakeholders.
• Support technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, factory and site acceptance testing, MOC evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation, chemical, mechanical, or related engineering.
• At least 7 years of petrochemical experience.
• Demonstrated experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems in refining or similar process industries.
• Experience reviewing designs, equipment, software, materials, and project deliverables for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and site requirements.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; sponsorship is not available.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Houston, Texas is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with DCS, SIS, PLC-based systems, HMI graphics, control narratives, logic diagrams, and control network diagrams.
• Experience supporting capital, maintenance, or turnaround projects through design and execution.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, vendors, third-party engineering firms, or a Main Automation Contractor.
• Familiarity with P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrumentation documentation, and project records.
• Experience coordinating MOC evaluations and working across multidisciplinary project teams.
