Instrumentation Project Engineer (Refinery)

Location: Carson/Wilmington, California, United States; onsite refinery work. Core business hours are 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, with 9/80 or 4/1 schedules available. Travel is 5% or less annually, with occasional after-hours support and approximately annual turnaround support.

Salary: $106,900–$184,300 annually.

What you will do

• Manage instrumentation projects from development and justification through design, construction, commissioning, startup, and completion.
• Provide instrumentation support to refinery process areas and capital projects, including scope development and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Specify and design instrumentation, including sizing, selection, datasheets, technical requisitions, and process analyzer systems.
• Support process safety activities, including MOC, PSI, mechanical integrity documentation, HAZOP, LOPA, and SIS lifecycle requirements.
• Plan and support testing, commissioning, loop checks, calibration, turnarounds, and maintenance outages.
• Develop cost estimates, schedules, and Decision Support Packages while coordinating with consultants, designers, maintenance, construction, and operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering completed before the start date.
• At least four years of post-degree instrumentation engineering experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or similar industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship.
• Ability to wear refinery PPE, including a respirator, perform field duties, and complete a hair drug test and physical examination.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for the 9/80 or 4/1 schedule.
