Smart Manufacturing Transformation Engineer (Industry 4.0)

Location: Jackson, Tennessee, United States; hybrid role with 25–50% travel required

What you will do

• Assess manufacturing sites and identify automation, digitalization, and operational technology opportunities.
• Develop and execute a multi-year smart manufacturing roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Define enterprise standards for automation, industrial connectivity, data architecture, controls, system integration, and digital manufacturing systems.
• Lead automation and digital manufacturing initiatives from concept through deployment in partnership with plant teams, IT/OT resources, and external vendors.
• Support PLC, SCADA/HMI, MES, CMMS, IIoT, industrial analytics, and material handling automation technologies.
• Improve manufacturing visibility, predictive maintenance, asset reliability, operational analytics, and integration of new facilities and acquisitions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, industrial engineering, operational technology, or smart manufacturing.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar industrial controls platforms.
• Experience supporting or implementing SCADA, HMI, MES, CMMS, IIoT, or industrial analytics solutions.
• Understanding of industrial networking, system integration, and OT cybersecurity principles.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and travel 25–50%.

Nice to have

• Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments.
• Experience with conveyors, AGVs, AMRs, warehouse automation, or other material handling technologies.
• Experience developing enterprise standards, governance models, deployment playbooks, or facility integration programs.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
