Manufacturing and Automation Engineer (Industry 4.0)

What you will do

• Lead automation, controls, and systems engineering initiatives across compounding, encapsulation, filling, bottling, labeling, cartoning, case packing, palletizing, and related packaging operations.
• Lead equipment selection, specification, procurement, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, optimization, and lifecycle management with OEMs, contractors, and system integrators.
• Analyze production and packaging performance to improve throughput, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, reliability, product quality, operator effectiveness, and waste reduction.
• Troubleshoot PLC controls, vision systems, sensors, servo systems, robotics, industrial networks, and machine communications; conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective-action procedures.
• Support integration between processing and packaging equipment, OEE systems, MES, SCADA, and enterprise reporting systems.
• Lead automation and controls work for capital projects, facility expansions, utility upgrades, Industry 4.0 initiatives, connected equipment, cloud analytics, predictive maintenance, and AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience automating packaging and production lines in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, supplement, or food manufacturing.
• Experience with bottling, liquid filling, labeling, case packing, vision inspection, servo drives, robotics, palletizers, conveyors, and automated CIP systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, and industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus TCP.
• Experience integrating and programming robotic systems such as ABB, FANUC, or Yaskawa, plus familiarity with MES/ERP, data analysis, CAD, and maintenance systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills for cross-functional collaboration with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Validation, Supply Chain, and IT.

Nice to have

• Lean certification, such as Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Programming or scripting experience.
