Manufacturing Electrical Equipment Engineer III

Location: Detroit, MI, US; onsite. Applicants must be able to work in or relocate to Detroit. Relocation assistance is not available.

Starting salary: $108,000–$139,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, optimization, and support of manufacturing controls systems for machining, assembly, and production testing.
• Plan and lead complex automation projects, including vendor research, technical specifications, equipment procurement, installation, tryouts, and qualification.
• Implement and support PLC, CNC, HMI, engine controls, device-level networks, servo systems, VFDs, and manufacturing monitoring systems.
• Lead controls activities for production line startups, process changes, equipment builds, installations, new product launches, and machine retrofits.
• Coordinate project teams across production, maintenance, product engineering, quality, suppliers, and global manufacturing engineering.
• Track project funding and spending, report project status to management, resolve issues, and mentor other team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least 7 years of controls engineering experience, including 5+ years of Siemens PLC programming, HMI development, and Siemens controls.
• Experience with HMI PRO, WinCC Flexible, TIA Portal, MES systems such as SISAM, and FIS systems such as PRISMA.
• Experience designing manufacturing controls hardware and software for machining and assembly equipment, plus PC hardware and Microsoft Windows in a networked plant-floor environment.
• Project leadership experience and the ability to oversee tradespeople or contractors, provide technical support, and communicate technical information clearly.
• Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application. Visa sponsorship is available only to current hirify.global employees working under an existing U.S. DTNA visa.

Nice to have

• Project management or supervisory experience.
• Global project experience and experience with new product launches or machine retrofits.
• AutoCAD experience with controls-related drawings.
• Experience organizing shop-floor management meetings and analyzing process irregularities.
