Field Engineer (Utilities Infrastructure)

Location: Two years in the DC office, followed by approximately 50% travel to utility construction job sites. Temporary housing may be available.

What you will do

• Support planning, coordination, and execution of electric utility construction activities.
• Interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and specifications for crews and subcontractors.
• Monitor field progress and verify compliance with safety regulations, project plans, and quality standards.
• Conduct field surveys and inspections, and prepare as-built documentation, daily logs, progress photos, and quantity tracking.
• Help resolve technical and design issues while coordinating with engineers and project managers.
• Track materials, equipment, permits, utility locates, and schedule updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering recommended, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering.
• 1–3 years of construction or utility field experience; internships and co-ops are considered.
• Understanding of construction documents, specifications, utility infrastructure, and safety standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and field conditions.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
