Field Engineer (Construction)

Location: Field-based work throughout California and the entire PG&E service territory; travel, extended periods away from home, flexible schedules, nights, weekends, and overtime may be required.

What you will do

• Support project managers by identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate accurate and consistent communication between field crews, project managers, and office-based staff.
• Serve as the on-site customer point of contact for field crews.
• Support work planning through site walks, weekly binders, schedules, and safety documentation.
• Redline construction drawings, maintain project documentation, and prepare client reports.
• Monitor quality control schedules, provide cost data, and support timely project closeout and punch-list completion.

Requirements

• 2+ years of field engineering, construction management, or similar experience.
• At least 6 months of quality-control experience and familiarity with Underground Service Alert (USA).
• Construction experience with redlining drawings, preparing RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
• Ability to read construction drawings and demonstrate strong math, computer, written, verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear driving record, safe driving ability in all weather and road conditions, and willingness to travel or transfer to a new headquarters when requested.
• Ability to wear company-provided PPE and fire-retardant clothing and perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
