Senior Underwriter - New Business (Property & Casualty)

Location: WML - Birmingham, United Kingdom; hybrid work with three days per week in the office and two days at home.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of a portfolio containing moderate to complex commercial accounts.
• Underwrite and negotiate risks, including mid-term adjustments, in line with risk appetite and profitability objectives.
• Develop new business and retention pipelines, prepare underwriting reviews, and support renewal and sales plans.
• Build relationships with brokers and internal partners, identify cross-selling opportunities, and market hirify.global products.
• Use technology platforms to quote and bind risks efficiently and take corrective action based on portfolio analysis.
• Train, mentor, and support less experienced underwriters, including handling referrals.

Requirements

• A Levels or a similar qualification.
• Strong experience in underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment.
• Deep knowledge of insurance products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills for evaluating risks, financial challenges, and portfolio information.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with brokers, including in difficult situations.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others, with the ability to lead or participate in projects involving complex analysis and regulatory or product changes.
