Distinguished Engineer, Investment Systems (AI)

Location: Boston; hybrid work arrangement with up to 18 remote workdays per quarter and regular office attendance

Base salary: $200,000–$210,000 per year, plus discretionary annual bonus and potential long-term rewards.

What you will do

• Define the technical architecture for private equity and private credit investment systems.
• Lead features end to end, including coding, pipelines, data transformations, views, and test suites.
• Build production-grade LLM applications, RAG pipelines, autonomous and human-in-the-loop agents using proprietary investment data.
• Apply AI-assisted development, testing, validation, and code review across the software development lifecycle.
• Establish software, data, infrastructure, security, and AI engineering standards and mentor technical teams.
• Review designs with the Architecture Review Board and partner with Platform Engineering and Quantitative Investment Science teams.

Requirements

• Distinguished Engineer-level experience architecting and delivering large-scale systems for investment platforms or analytics engineering teams.
• 12+ years of software engineering and delivery experience preferred, including 5+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Hands-on production development with Python or Java and full-stack TypeScript and Node experience.
• Experience with FastAPI microservices, GraphQL, gRPC, CI/CD, data modeling, ETL/ELT, data quality, and Snowflake or equivalent cloud warehouses.
• Experience with streaming technologies, Docker or Kubernetes, and production cloud systems.
• Practical experience with MCP or FastMCP, LLMs, RAG, multi-agent architectures, document ingestion, OCR, parsing, extraction, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt, Dagster, Airflow, Azure data tooling, Azure OpenAI, or comparable cloud AI platforms.
• Knowledge of financial markets, investment systems, private equity, or private credit.
• Experience with Monte Carlo methods, probabilistic modeling, forecasting, portfolio construction, or allocation.
• Experience building knowledge graphs, entity resolution systems, and ontologies or schemas.
• Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or equivalent experience.
