Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Paint, New Product Introduction (NPI)

Location: Wyoming, Minnesota, USA. Onsite manufacturing environment with up to 25% travel to suppliers and manufacturing facilities; availability for occasional non-standard hours or shifts is required.

Starting pay range: $88,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead manufacturing readiness and program deliverables for paint and related back shop operations from concept through start of production.
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing reviews and recommend improvements to manufacturability, quality, ergonomics, and cost.
• Develop labor estimates, capacity plans, paint consumption calculations, manufacturing cost models, and launch plans.
• Define tooling, fixtures, masking systems, racks, carts, equipment, and capital requirements, including supplier selection, installation, and commissioning.
• Lead prototype, validation, pilot, and production-intent build readiness while managing risks and issue resolution.
• Drive quality improvement, root cause analysis, corrective actions, standardization, and cost reduction across multiple manufacturing locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, chemical, materials engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• 8–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, including paint, coatings, surface finishing, manufacturing launches, or related areas.
• Strong knowledge of paint processes, masking systems, tooling, fixtures, labor planning, quality systems, DFAM reviews, pilot builds, validation, and production launches.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and deliverables without direct authority.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Creo, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Power BI, OneNote, and MS Project.
• Fluent English required; Spanish proficiency is preferred. Immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• MBA, project management certification, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar credentials.
• Spanish language proficiency.
