Senior Software Engineer – API & Cloud Integrations (Java, AWS)

Location: Hybrid position requiring three days per week in the Denver or Cedar Rapids office; applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Salary: $94,000–$120,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Build, test, implement, and document application solutions using Java, web technologies, cloud services, APIs, and third-party frameworks.
• Design and analyze deliverables, including system-level architecture solutions.
• Develop distributed, microservices-based, and REST API solutions across platforms.
• Collaborate with software engineers, outsourced and offshore development staff, and business product owners in an agile environment.
• Act as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and advise on coding and design standards.
• Evaluate solutions based on business needs, costs, system impacts, and architectural requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of Core Java experience and strong knowledge of object-oriented, functional, Spring, J2EE, dependency injection, and core architecture concepts.
• At least two years of experience with database design and integration or service frameworks.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services, build and deployment tools, distributed computing, CI/CD, Docker, containers, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship or transfer of sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, big data, and real-time streaming architectures.
• Experience with agentic coding platforms such as Kiro or Copilot.
• Understanding of data warehousing, source-to-target mappings, and ETL.
• AWS, Microsoft, or other technology certifications.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry.
