AI Engineer - FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) (GenAI)

Location: McLean, Reston, or Richmond, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; open to remote locations. Willingness to travel to customers once every 4–8 weeks as needed.

Salary: $152,900–$210,155 USD annually, plus potential performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop GenAI solutions using the latest AI research techniques to solve customer problems.
• Design, build, deploy, and own production rollouts of consumer-facing and internal GenAI applications.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across multiple domains.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and developer relations teams to influence priorities and shape the product roadmap.
• Present technical work at conferences and contribute as an internal and external thought leader.

Requirements

• Industry experience building GenAI applications, including RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning, using tools such as HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy.
• Expertise in deploying, evaluating, and optimizing production-grade GenAI applications.
• Extensive hands-on industry data science experience with tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
• Experience deploying production-grade machine learning systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience communicating or teaching technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark for processing large-scale distributed datasets.
