Senior IT Program Manager (Satellite)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid model with 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based satellite company developing a constellation that enables standard commercial devices to communicate directly from space, providing affordable and secure connectivity for industries, governments, and communities.

What you will do

• Establish and continuously maintain a company-wide inventory of active and planned software initiatives across technical and business departments.
• Create portfolio-level control across dozens of concurrent initiatives by mapping owners, scope, milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, and delivery confidence.
• Validate the technical realism of plans and forecasts with the Software Engineering Manager, identifying missing work, resource gaps, and emerging risks.
• Prepare portfolio reporting for the CTO and Senior Manager of Infrastructure & Software Engineering using Jira, Confluence, Google Workspace, dashboards, dependency maps, and Gantt views.
• Take direct Project Manager or Product Owner responsibility for selected initiatives that require deeper support.

Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience leading complex software programs and portfolios across multiple teams and parallel initiatives.
• Strong technical understanding of the software development lifecycle, including full-stack systems, embedded engineering, cloud and infrastructure, DevOps, observability, distributed platforms, and mission-critical software.
• Advanced expertise in portfolio governance, integrated roadmaps, Gantt planning, dependency mapping, resource and capacity analysis, risk management, issue management, and executive reporting.
• Advanced working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Google Workspace.
• Strong stakeholder leadership and communication skills, including influencing without authority and translating technical complexity into executive decisions.
• Must be based in Barcelona and work from the office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in satellite, aerospace, telecommunications, IoT, or other mission-critical engineering environments.
• Technical degree or equivalent engineering background.
• PgMP, PMP, or PRINCE2 certification.
• Experience using AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT for analysis, planning, documentation, reporting, and stakeholder preparation.
