TL;DR
Nuclear Engineer I (Nuclear Energy): Supporting the development and deployment of next-generation nuclear infrastructure across mechanical, civil and structural engineering, construction and project delivery, and nuclear licensing with an accent on rigorous technical analysis, design coordination, and engineering-to-construction interfaces. Focus on developing engineering calculations, reviewing designs and regulatory requirements, and helping move nuclear projects through installation, testing, commissioning, and deployment.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, or Washington, DC, United States

Salary: $80,000 annually, paid bi-weekly, less applicable withholdings and deductions.

What you will do

  • Contribute to nuclear and conventional power facility engineering across mechanical, civil and structural, construction and project delivery, or nuclear licensing functions.
  • Develop engineering calculations, equipment specifications, structural designs, construction documents, or regulatory analyses.
  • Support design reviews, constructability studies, modularization, interdisciplinary coordination, and engineering-to-construction interfaces.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, constructors, licensing professionals, project leaders, and nuclear staff.
  • Help address field changes, technical issues, regulatory questions, and requests for additional information.
  • Support equipment installation, testing, startup, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Expected graduation between December 2026 and May 2027, with availability to begin full-time employment in Summer 2027.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, analytical and quantitative skills, and the ability to solve technical problems.
  • Academic, internship, research, design-team, laboratory, construction, or project experience demonstrating technical curiosity and initiative.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, engineering rigor, and the ability to work across disciplines.
  • Interest in nuclear energy, large-scale infrastructure, advanced engineering, or complex technical systems, with a willingness to learn quickly and take ownership.
