Focus on using RELAP, ANSYS, and GOTHIC to evaluate NSSS design, preparing engineering calculations and reports, and resolving technical problems with multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Remote work may be available within the contiguous United States for employees located more than 30 miles from a NuScale office; business travel is required as needed. Office location: Corvallis, Oregon, United States.

Target salary: $87,107–$105,129 annually. Full salary range: $78,096–$122,149 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform thermal-hydraulic analyses of NSSS fluid systems using engineering software and analytical tools.
  • Evaluate system design and performance, including transient operations and engineering calculations.
  • Prepare, check, and review calculations and reports related to flow-induced vibration.
  • Apply thermal-hydraulics and structural-mechanics fundamentals to engineering evaluations.
  • Coordinate design activities with colleagues and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering.
  • At least two years of full-time engineering experience as a thermal-hydraulic engineer.
  • Experience with system-performance and transient analyses, including water hammer, high-energy line break, steam-generator heat transfer, and compartment heating or pressurization.
  • Experience with RELAP, ANSYS Mechanical or CFD, GOTHIC, and standard office software.
  • Experience analyzing flow-induced vibration mechanisms, vibration testing, and data analysis.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 is required.

Nice to have

  • Registered Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Programming skills in Python or Matlab.
