Mission Engineer (Space)

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Minimal travel and standard working hours.

Salary: $135,000–$163,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Coordinate with external System Program Offices to develop space protection concepts of operations, capability requirements, and system interfaces.
• Represent enterprise capability needs in developer working groups, technical meetings, and internal decision forums.
• Develop strategy recommendations covering engineering and acquisition trade-offs, priorities, and budget constraints.
• Provide technical oversight for software development, implementation, and deployment of ground processing capabilities integrated with space systems.
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts to create technical plans, documentation, progress materials, and readiness-event support.
• Support requirements refinement, design reviews, requirements verification, discrepancy identification, and mission validation testing.

Requirements

• Active/current TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline.
• 8+ years of experience supporting a government acquisition program office.
• Experience in government systems engineering, including requirements development and management, readiness, and testing.
• Experience developing, testing, or fielding space and/or ground software systems.
• Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness systems, activities, or operations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in Space Domain Awareness and Indication and Warning mission areas.
• Experience supporting NRO SIGINT/GEOINT System Program Offices or familiarity with SIGINT/GEOINT operations.
• Familiarity with NRO Systems Engineering Directorate requirements, RFC, and lifecycle readiness processes.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, scrums, solution epics/features, and continuous integration.
