TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer I - Mission Architecture (Spacecraft Systems): Leading satellite engineering formulation and developing spacecraft mission architectures with an accent on technical budgets, requirements definition, verification, simulations, and test planning. Focus on shaping customer requirements, writing core architectures for proposals, and coordinating complex spacecraft systems engineering across civil, national security, and commercial missions.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters

Base salary: $124,000–$171,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $144,000–$206,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Lead satellite engineering formulation for business development and new opportunity capture.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle performance budgets, system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, and analyses.
  • Lead the technical development of spacecraft missions, including test methods and data analysis.
  • Assist with program and product management activities.
  • Develop interface specifications, CONOPS, and other spacecraft design documents.
  • Work with customers and internal leadership to shape requirements and write core architectures for proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • For U.S. office roles, eligibility under U.S. ITAR export regulations is required, or the ability to obtain the necessary authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems including ADCS, EPS, space-ground communications, C&DH, and thermal control.
  • Understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with proposals, technical volume authorship, satellite operations, CAD, JAMA or DOORS, MATLAB, Python, and STK.
  • Strong professional communication skills and the ability to work with competing priorities.
