Systems Engineer, Journeyman (Defense)

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Apply systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle of complex aviation, mission, survivability, aircrew, and training systems.
• Support research, development, integration, testing, acquisition, fielding, sustainment, and modernization activities.
• Gather, analyze, document, track, and validate technical and performance requirements.
• Support design reviews, technical assessments, engineering investigations, verification, validation, airworthiness coordination, and performance evaluations.
• Identify and help mitigate technical, programmatic, schedule, readiness, and sustainment risks.
• Coordinate with government stakeholders, contractors, logistics teams, test organizations, and cross-functional engineering teams while preparing technical reports, plans, schedules, and briefings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
• At least three years of recent and relevant experience applying engineering principles to complex technical systems.
• Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, risk management, system integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle support.
• Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition and lifecycle management practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, documentation, customer relations, and collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret Security Clearance are required; eligibility for access to classified information and completion of a full background investigation are required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting NAVAIR, NAWCAD, Naval Aviation, or other DoD acquisition organizations.
• Experience with aircraft, aviation, survivability, mission, aircrew, training, or sustainment systems.
• Experience with classified or multi-level security environments, airworthiness, cybersecurity, or flight clearance processes.
• Experience with MBSE, SysML, Cameo, digital engineering tools, technical data analysis, business case analysis, or program planning.
• Advanced degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline.
