Lead Line Engineer (Transmission)

Location: Orange, Connecticut, United States; onsite

Salary: $130,000–$160,400 per year, depending on experience and location.

hirify.global's United Illuminating Company operates an electric delivery system in Connecticut that includes transmission lines and bulk electric supply substations.

What you will do

• Lead engineering for capital transmission projects from scoping and budgeting through design, construction, contract management, and closeout.
• Create conceptual designs for high-, medium-, and low-voltage transmission lines, including structural and electrical calculations, routing, and engineering drawings.
• Oversee external detailed designers and direct contractors on company policies, standards, and best practices.
• Lead engineering studies, validate analysis data, and develop innovative solutions to complex technical and operational problems.
• Ensure designs comply with company, local, state, and national codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, collaborate across departments, and represent the company on regional and national committees when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience delivering engineering projects, including network construction, operations, field inspections, and engineering design.
• Knowledge of planning, operations, engineering documentation, analysis, modeling, calculations, construction, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to review and approve engineering work for compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Knowledge of transmission engineering standards and specifications up to 345 kV, including overhead and underground line design, equipment specifications, maintenance, and material selection.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred; computer literacy is required.

Nice to have

• CAD drafting, PLS-CADD modeling, construction and outage sequencing, project scoping, and estimating.
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Relevant utility-environment experience and knowledge of construction and maintenance standards.
