Intermediate Air Quality Specialist

Location: Remote within Canada

Salary: CAD 31.00–54.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support air permitting and compliance projects for clients in oil and gas, mining, power generation, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and related industries.
• Address environmental air compliance challenges ranging from simple to complex.
• Perform annual greenhouse gas emissions calculations, reviews, and verification support.
• Conduct dispersion modelling assessments for permitting and incident assessment scenarios.
• Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates.
• Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, client communications, and collaboration while supporting junior team members.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Canadian experience in air-related regulatory compliance and permitting, including regulatory impact assessment, dispersion modelling, and compliance strategy.
• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience with air emissions quantification, annual GHG reporting, and Emissions Performance Standards.
• Required: experience with AERMOD modelling software.
• Knowledge of current federal and provincial regulations, permitting requirements, and legislation.
• Must be located in Canada; ability to travel and a valid unrestricted Class 5 or G Canadian driver’s licence are required.

Nice to have

• Professional registration with a Canadian engineering licensing board, or the ability to obtain the designation.
• Experience with CalPuff, MOVES, Phast, or Aloha.
• Experience with acid deposition, visibility, and other environmental impact assessment modelling.
