TL;DR

What you will do

  • Coordinate and improve environmental compliance programs covering air, greenhouse gas, water, and waste for approximately four California plants.
  • Develop monitoring, sampling, testing, and compliance tools to demonstrate adherence to regulatory and permit limits.
  • Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, waste profiles, manifests, and supporting project documentation.
  • Conduct permit negotiations and interact with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Assess environmental requirements for plant and capital projects, develop permitting strategies, and secure necessary approvals.
  • Lead audits, inspections, training, work groups, and cross-functional initiatives to improve EHS performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; chemical engineering is preferred. An advanced degree in environmental engineering is desirable.
  • Approximately 5–7 years of environmental regulatory compliance experience across air, greenhouse gas, water, and waste programs, including Federal and California requirements.
  • Experience with Title V air permits is required. Knowledge of Bay Area Air Quality Management District rules and permitting is desired.
  • Experience with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in field and office settings, use Microsoft Office and Excel, learn compliance systems, and travel to facilities as needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience defining and securing environmental permits and approvals for new facilities.
  • Experience training facility personnel on environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Enablon, SAP Compliance Management and Event Management, CERS, SMARTS, TRI-ME Web/CDX, Cal-eGGRT/e-GGRT, and local air district reporting portals.
