Staff Equipment Engineer (Automation)

Location: Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; onsite

What you will do

• Execute automation-related capital projects from equipment concept validation and design through construction and implementation.
• Perform characterization, qualification, and equipment validation activities to bring new automation systems into production.
• Evaluate and implement automation technologies, including hardware and software upgrades for manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoot and test equipment, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, robots, PCs, controllers, and interconnected systems.
• Monitor equipment data and implement improvements supporting yield, uptime, reliability, and operational objectives.
• Create and review procedures, qualification plans, reports, corrective action plans, and other technical documentation while supporting plant safety and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science discipline; mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
• 6–8 years of experience implementing and supporting highly automated manufacturing systems.
• Strong software troubleshooting experience with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and robots, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Cognex, and Adept.
• Experience with machine vision programming, OPC servers, WinCC, and system interconnections such as TCP/IP, RS232, MPI, and Profibus.
• Experience programming across different architectures and levels, controlling equipment software in manufacturing, and troubleshooting PCs and related devices.
• Bilingual Spanish and English communication skills required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills are also required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MS or MBA.
• Project management and strong cross-functional business experience.
• SQL or other database experience, medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience, and knowledge of equipment validation documentation.
• Experience with design of experiments, statistical process control, or training and certifications from Siemens, Cognex, or Allen Bradley.
