Automation Maintenance Technician I (Robotics)

Location: Site-based position in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico

What you will do

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic vehicles, conveyors, lifts, sensors, motors, belts, and rollers.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues using work instructions, schematics, diagnostic tools, and automation system data.
• Support corrective maintenance, system recovery, validation, robotic vehicle retrieval, and equipment uptime.
• Record inspections, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS and escalate complex issues to senior technicians or leadership.
• Operate automation systems safely, maintain organized work areas according to 5S standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO, PPE, fall protection, and work-at-height requirements; assist with Cell Operator functions when required.

Requirements

• Technical high school diploma, TSU, technical certification, engineering studies in progress, or equivalent training in mechatronics, electronics, industrial maintenance, automation, controls, robotics, electrical, or mechanical disciplines.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, automation, robotics, manufacturing equipment, conveyors, logistics automation, automotive, aerospace, or a related technical environment.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, electrical diagnostics, sensors, VFDs, servo motors, pneumatics, HMIs, CMMS documentation, and electro-mechanical repair is strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret dashboards, queue logic, routing paths, and real-time KPIs to identify system slowdowns or reliability concerns.
• Ability to work independently, follow procedures and manuals, manage multiple technical priorities, and meet safety, attendance, quality, and productivity expectations.
• Must be able to work at heights up to 45 feet, in confined spaces as narrow as 24 inches, climb steep stairs, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and work in temperatures from 32°F to 105°F.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar automation platforms.
• Understanding of robotic fleet behavior, battery logic, path optimization, and inter-vehicle coordination.
• Basic conversational English.
