Controls Engineer – MES (MES/PLC automation): Supporting MES-to-PLC integrations and real-time production execution in a high-volume discrete manufacturing environment with an accent on PLC programming, industrial communications, and manufacturing data integrity. Focus on troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and industrial network issues, integrating MES routines into PLC programs, and improving production reporting, quality validation, and automation reliability.

What you will do
- Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches, production ramp-ups, ongoing operations, and new production rollouts.
- Configure and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems, including MES routines, user-defined data types, PLC tags, and logic.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and industrial network issues affecting MES functionality and production execution.
- Maintain production data, part numbers, product structures, real-time reporting, and MES-based quality validation processes.
- Collaborate with process engineering, MES, operations, production supervisors, and operators to resolve throughput, efficiency, quality, and system-performance issues.
- Document modifications and investigations, support audits and root-cause analysis, and identify automation and manufacturing process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, automation, manufacturing, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
- Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
- Experience supporting manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and plant-floor communication protocols.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex production and system integration issues while working with engineering, operations, and production teams.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting MES in a production environment and integrating ERP, MES, and PLC systems.
- Knowledge of discrete manufacturing processes, production reporting, manufacturing data collection, and quality management systems.
- Experience with system implementations, upgrades, production launches, continuous improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.
