TL;DR

Location: Chocolate Bayou Works in Alvin, Texas, United States

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA produces olefins and polyolefins, including ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene, across large-scale manufacturing sites in North America.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a technical team supporting two polypropylene units, a utilities unit, and a cogeneration facility.
  • Identify, prioritize, and govern optimization and debottlenecking opportunities that improve yield, energy efficiency, throughput, and asset utilization.
  • Develop multi-year technology roadmaps and steward process models, technical studies, and intellectual assets.
  • Own CAPEX investment plans, support FEL 0/1 development, and prepare capital justifications and option evaluations.
  • Partner with Operations, Capital Projects, manufacturing, asset, and business teams to convert technical analysis into decision-ready recommendations.
  • Institutionalize durable improvements while maintaining safety, reliability, compliance, and operational risk standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in chemical, petrochemical, or large-scale industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of process technology, unit operations, asset constraints, process modeling, heat and material balances, and scenario analysis.
  • Expertise in optimization, debottlenecking, yield and energy-efficiency analysis, technical-economic evaluation, ROI analysis, and profitability drivers.
  • Experience with technology roadmaps, benchmarking, capital project development, process safety, reliability, and operational risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical professionals, influence cross-functional stakeholders, delegate effectively, and communicate complex analysis to senior leadership.
