TL;DR
VP, Process Engineering & Automation (Medical Devices): Establishing and executing global strategies for process engineering, manufacturing test, automation, industrialization, and manufacturing technology with an accent on scalable production, product quality, and regulated medical-device manufacturing. Focus on leading global engineering organizations, deploying automated electromechanical test systems, managing technology transfers and manufacturing scale-up, and ensuring compliance with FDA Quality System requirements and ISO 13485.

Location: Full-time onsite position in Irvine, California, United States. Domestic and international travel may be required to support global manufacturing operations and technology transfers.

Salary: $220,000–$300,000 annually, plus eligibility for up to a 30% annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Define and execute the global strategy, technical roadmap, and operating model for process engineering, manufacturing test, automation, equipment, and industrialization.
  • Lead global Process Engineering, Manufacturing Test, and Automation organizations responsible for process development, validation, technology transfer, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and senior leaders to ensure manufacturability, scalability, quality, cost, and production readiness.
  • Lead new product industrialization, design transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and complex technology transfers across domestic and international sites.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of hardware and software electromechanical test systems for devices and high-volume sensors.
  • Set engineering standards, budgets, capital strategies, performance measures, and organizational priorities while building a high-performing global engineering organization.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation, manufacturing technology, industrialization, or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years of progressive people leadership experience, including leading leaders and multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Experience with new product industrialization, process development and validation, automation implementation, design transfer, manufacturing scale-up, technology transfer, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing engineering and automation strategies across multiple products, manufacturing sites, or global operations, including capital investments and technology deployments.
  • Knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments, including FDA Quality System requirements, ISO 13485, process validation, risk management, and medical-device manufacturing requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and effective written and spoken English communication.

Nice to have

  • Executive leadership experience in medical devices, life sciences, or another highly regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with automated assembly and test systems, robotics, machine vision, electronic and mechanical manufacturing, plastic injection molding, or cable assembly.
  • Experience deploying advanced automation, digital manufacturing, manufacturing data, or smart manufacturing capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of DFM, DFA, Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, and related continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
