Software Engineer, Lead (Java)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of features and services from architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Design and build scalable, resilient, fault-tolerant services and APIs for dealer and customer-facing experiences.
• Own feature-level architecture for capabilities such as prequalification, pricing, incentives, and funding.
• Coordinate functional, integration, performance, and production-readiness activities.
• Partner with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams to translate business priorities into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring, and promote engineering standards, resiliency, and operational discipline.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production features or services.
• Hands-on experience developing Java-based services with modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience with REST, GraphQL, event-driven APIs, AWS, ECS, Fargate, serverless components, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with highly available customer-facing applications, distributed systems, automated testing, troubleshooting, observability, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on frontend experience with React, Next.js, or Vue, plus the ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive, lending, financial services, digital commerce, dealer platforms, or loan-origination systems.
• Experience with high-volume transactional architectures and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or CloudWatch.
• Contributions to engineering standards, platform modernization, developer experience, or engineering culture.
