TL;DR
Engineering Technician (Aerospace & Defense): Supporting Product Engineers in developing, validating, and continuously improving manufacturing processes for aerospace and defense products with an accent on process safety, production tooling, and technical documentation. Focus on troubleshooting equipment and process failures, setting up production cells, applying lean manufacturing methods, and verifying product conformance.

What you will do

  • Support Product Engineers with the development, validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Design, lay out, procure, and fabricate production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids.
  • Assist with process hazard analyses, pre-start-up safety reviews, product testing, and troubleshooting of equipment or process failures.
  • Perform production activities including mixing, casting, extrusion, pressing, testing, loading, assembly, packaging, cell setup, and changeovers.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, process specifications, inspection plans, and packaging instructions.
  • Train producers, perform inspections, analyze process data, and participate in kaizen, facility startup, and other improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus at least 15 college credit hours, approximately five years of related manufacturing experience or training, related military service or training, or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and ability to perform production operator tasks for assigned programs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to perform inspections and checks for conformance to technical and process requirements.
  • Occasional off-site travel may be required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with lab procedures, environmental testing, CNC programming, or machining.
  • Experience using precision scales, graduated cylinders, calipers, or micrometers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management, or diagramming tools.
