TL;DR
Engineer I - Manufacturing (Lean Manufacturing): Improving manufacturing processes, machinery operations, tooling, production methods, and machine controls with an accent on process capability, safety, quality, and productivity. Focus on solving value-stream problems, executing capital projects, leading automation and preventive-maintenance initiatives, and applying Lean, SPC, PFMEA, DFM, and DMAIC tools.

Location: Kulpsville, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite manufacturing environment. U.S. Person status is required for authorized access to ITAR-controlled data.

What you will do

  • Analyze daily, monthly, and annual manufacturing metrics with the Value Stream Manager and recommend improvements to machinery, tooling, production methods, and machine controls.
  • Investigate safety and quality issues with cross-functional teams, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead capital expense projects from quotation through IQ/OQ/PQ, support annual budgeting, and execute emergency capital projects.
  • Create documentation for automated processes, new products, and new equipment during the transition to production.
  • Lead automation initiatives and recommend opportunities to automate value-stream operations.
  • Improve preventive maintenance and minimize the risk of unplanned equipment downtime while ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 3–6 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience applying intermediate Lean Manufacturing tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of SPC and the ability to analyze data.
  • Experience with process mapping, PFMEA, process design, DFM, Cpk/Ppk, and/or DMAIC tools.
  • U.S. Person status is required under applicable ITAR regulations; this includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, and certain refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification, including LSS Green Belt or Lean Practitioner training.
  • Knowledge of materials through education or professional experience.
