TL;DR
Product Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing cell layouts for aerospace mechanisms and mechanical assemblies with an accent on design for manufacturability, process engineering, and Lean manufacturing. Focus on solving process failures, creating PFMEAs and standard work, developing automated test fixtures, and coordinating production milestones across engineering and manufacturing teams.

What you will do

  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability and serve as the technical lead for internal and external production projects.
  • Develop and maintain product structures, routings, process specifications, tooling documentation, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems and process failures, then implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, and other departments to validate production viability and approve documentation.
  • Design automated test fixtures, assembly tools, tool assemblies, and manufacturing cell layouts.
  • Create PFMEAs, standard work, machining part-family PQPRs, and track production program milestones.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Manufacturing or related engineering experience with multi-part mechanisms and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with CAD, 3D modeling, assembly creation, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of tooling and fixture design, design-for-manufacturing methods, formal problem analysis, and resolution.
  • Ability to lead programs or projects, document and execute plans, and work with production personnel.
  • Familiarity with aerospace products and processes, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office, and MS Project.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of space vehicle mechanisms and systems.
  • Experience with manufacturing cell planning and machining part families.
