Environmental Project Manager (CEQA)

Location: Paso Robles, California; candidates must live locally or within California. This is a hybrid, primarily office-based role with occasional travel to client sites, project locations, and business development activities. No relocation expenses are provided.

Salary: $97,000–$150,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Manage environmental planning projects and proposal pursuits.
• Prepare categorical exemptions, initial studies, mitigated negative declarations, EIRs, CEQA compliance studies, and special studies.
• Confirm CEQA requirements are met through analysis and complete documentation.
• Manage project schedules, scopes, budgets, workloads, and deadlines.
• Coordinate with clients, interdisciplinary team members, and subconsultants while incorporating technical reports and research into environmental documents.
• Support business development through proposals, qualifications, conferences, client interactions, and business planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, geography, planning, or a related field; candidates currently completing the degree may be considered.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in environmental analysis and reporting with a government agency or consulting firm.
• Experience with CEQA documentation, study coordination, environmental review assignments, and interdisciplinary project management.
• Knowledge of CEQA Guidelines, all 20 topical areas of Appendix G, OPR guidance materials, and relevant court cases affecting CEQA practice in California; occasional NEPA experience is relevant.
• Strong critical thinking, written and verbal business English, communication, organization, multitasking, and attention to detail.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required, along with the ability to travel to client and job sites.
