Assistant Project Manager (Environmental Permitting)

Location: Colorado, United States, with team members based in Denver, Fort Collins, the Front Range, and the western slope. Remote versus office time is negotiable; sporadic site visits are required, ranging from limited winter visits to up to 2–3 visits per month during busier periods.

Salary: $100,870–$144,100 annually.

What you will do

• Support utility clients with environmental and construction permitting and compliance for natural gas distribution and transmission projects.
• Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, and multidisciplinary internal teams including CAD/GIS, wildlife, land, planning, and hydrologic/hydraulic specialists.
• Manage permitting matrices, timelines, submittals, jurisdictional permitting portals, project files, and deliverable distribution.
• Coordinate field visits and support construction stormwater, floodplain, wetland, right-of-way, land acquisition, public outreach, and wildlife compliance activities.
• Oversee deliverable production, quality assurance, scope consistency, and completion within budget and schedule.
• Support project reviews with project managers, accounting, operational leadership, and business leadership, progressing toward independent scope, schedule, and budget development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Strong project management, organizational, written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering plans for utility or land development projects and interact with design teams.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to safely drive throughout Colorado in a personal or company rental vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing changing deadlines and priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting utility clients.
• Construction management, construction oversight, or active construction site experience.
• Experience with local construction permitting or agency review processes.
• Experience drafting agency correspondence, memoranda, emails, permit applications, and project documentation.
